Fusion's Transition is the perfect product to use when transitioning projects from a dark color to a light colour and will save you time and money! The purpose of this product is to take you from a dark colour to a light colour in fewer coats of regular Fusion Mineral Paint.
Often one coat of Fusion Mineral Paint is enough but some colours, such as Picket Fence and Casement for example, may require more when going from a darker colour to a lighter color - this is where Transition shines!
Transition is a high quality acrylic tinted with 100% recycled waste pigment. This economical coating has a high hiding feature, however not the same adhesive qualities as our premium Fusion Mineral Paint and it is not recommended to be used on its own. But that’s why it’s less than half the price! It should be used between coats of Fusion Mineral Paint. Since each batch is unique, shades of this neutral grey will vary with production.
Note: Transition is not a primer and does not seal or block against resin or tannin bleed through and should be used on surfaces ready and prepped. Be sure to use a Zinsser B-I-N shellac-based primer for bleed through concerns. This is available in New Zealand at our major hardware stores.
THE SANDWICH TECHNIQUE
For best results start with one (and only one) coat of your Fusion Mineral Paint colour (as first/base coat) and let dry. Then apply one (and only one) coat of Transition and let dry. Then apply your second coat of your favourite Fusion Mineral Paint colour on top of the Transition.
